Selected Project: Lawyers Hall
- OWNER: WLU
- Type: Heritage Restoration
- Start Date: 2004-09-01
- City: Brantford, Ontario, Canada
The Lawyer’s Hall project involved the preservation and recreation of a old heritage building. Built 1868 the structure was a Masonic Temple on Colborne Street North, right in the heart of Brantford. This 137 year old building was so decrepit it was slotted for demolition. However, the reputation of the JG Group as a premium retrofitter allowed it to rescue and reincarnate this heritage building. This 18120 sq. ft. reincarnation was to the tune of eight apartments and 32 beds, providing an excellent living facility for the first-year university students of Wilfrid Laurier’s satellite campus. The renovation, decoration, and furnishing of this culturally significant heritage site was celebrated by university officials, politicians, and members of the community alike. Retrofitting, restoration, and renovation has become a staple of JG Contracting division.
