Selected Project: Wilkes House

Wilkes House
  • OWNER: WLU
  • Type: Heritage Restoration
  • Start Date: 2005-09-01
  • City: Brantford, Ontario, Canada

As Brantford’s latest emerging downtown developer, JG Group has become the builder of choice for Wilfrid Laurier University.  The university has collaborated with the JG Group on numerous projects, the latest and largest to date involves the development of a 135 year old home built by one of Brantford’s most prominent historical figures, Alfred J. Wilkes.  The complex, presently in construction, will eventually house 42 students and a recreation centre for the university’s satellite campus.  Laurier-Brantford is establishing a university district by piecing together properties in the heart of Brantford.  Unlike building four walls, the challenge lies in retrofitting an old building that is already part of the cultural fabric and tackling any unforeseen problems that may arise.  The JG Group is confidant that the restoration, renovation, and raiment of Wilkes House will far exceed the expectation of Wilfrid Laurier University officials as well as the local heritage committee.  Customer satisfaction is not just expected; it’s guaranteed!
